Droknar's Racing
Has anyone tried this? I participated in one tonight and I have to say it was pretty fun! We got a group of 6 Warriors in Beacons and we raced our way to the forge. The first one to the end of each zone got 1 point.
There is some interesting strategy involved in the race. Skill choice and timing is even more crucial. There is no time for resting so the pace is always fast!
In our race 5 of us died in Lornars! The lone survivor made it to the end and claimed the point. There was someone way in the lead and on their way to sure win but they messed up and died near the end!
Only one death in Dreadnoughts. This one was much closer with everyone striving for the point.
Snake Dance had no deaths. This one seems to be a lot about path choice.
Talus Chute was basically just a dead run. Whomever takes the corners just perfectly wins.
I'll have to do this race again!

I did that with 3 of the LBS Academy members, we each bet 20k to the winner of the race. Each checkpoint was worth 1 point, and we had to line up before we started so no-one with slow connection was cheated. Thing is i tied with one guy at the end , and i said lets try again, but everyone was too "tired", infact they though im a noob , and they will make some money off my ass. After they saw that im not really a noob and i could easyly make some money , i think they gave up. They were laughing because i was using my Crimson and HoD .and they were using Manlions with a staff(thats pretty wierd if u ask me). I was used as bait in some places, still i made 2 points .
Still i loved the race, too bad we coudnt do it again, i could of make really good use of the money. Trust me, when there is money for run , ur blood rate increases .
PM: if u guys wanna do it sometime, not necesearly for money. But for fun.

There's gonna be a race this Thursday (tomorrow) from Temple of Ages to Druid's Overlook at 8pm EST/1am GMT. The details are on www.guildcast.com on the episode 10 show notes. It has some pretty cool prize choices too.

I use a crimson carapace shield and I do not get laughed at by anyone in the guild. To suggest that someone laughed at you for using a HOD sword is quite frankly rediculous. Anyone in their right mind would realise the benefits of using one as it provides 5 energy over a sword with a dmg mod.
It is not possible to use a Malinons shield with a staff as staffs are two handed. They either used a staff or a shield but not both.
I am aware that racing has happened in the guild but that was many months ago and was done in the desert and not drok. Noone to my knowledge has ever mention drok racing or anything of the sort for along while.
I am not saying you are lying but what you have described has several major flaws which i have highlighted in the above comments.

Not to mention that no one has even heard of him. Ah well, I guess some people just need some sort of self gratification.
Edit: If anything it would've been a healing ankh offhand. Req. 8, +10 energy, +45 health, +5 armor. Also not useable with a shield.

Exactly. Most bs comes from people who have posted very few times on the forum e.g. I have a 15>50 crystalline sword, i have a max dmg sickle.
If what you claim is true actually happened would you be able to pm me the three people's names and the rough date it happened. Any screenshots would also be appreciated and I will then and only then correct my previous comments. Dont post it on here as you have not obtained their permission.

i do not want to bs anybody. But when i was doing my runs, 1 LBS runner was doing runs, and somone was saying, dont run with the noobs run with LBS. I was pretty shocked , just because im not in LBs that doesnt mean im a noob. I can run pretty well and i didnt copy anybodys build, i use my own. And yah.....y did i choose to say something about LBS it was because i tied the run and they didnt belive i could of make it, all of them said they have to go. THIng is they were still running some people later on, they had time for that.
I dont want to stirr thing up, but just because im not an LBS that dosent mean i cant run.
oooh i just did a run, and the 20/20 healing ank, is also a very good offhand. especially if u heal by monk healing skillz.

After reading this thread, I was wondering what the big deal was? what's so great about racing the Droknar run? I wanted to see what this Droknar Run was really like, and the best way to know is to go.
So last night, I grabbed some gold from storage and returned to Beacon's Perch. Looked at some runners advertising their service, picked one and joined his party. During the run, I did my best to do what I was told - stay close and behind, and don't aggro any foes. My level 20 Mesmer didn't survive very long. Anyway, that's beside the point, my main aim was to watch the runner in action and take in the sight. On my death, I clicked the runners name, sat back and watched. Most of the time, I couldn't believe the number of foes there were concentrated in small areas and how the runner unbelieveably moved swiftly through them. I was impressed with the skills, timing and patience required to navigate this run.
It was the best 3k I've spent so far in the game. I got to experience first hand what running is, I got to run some parts of this tough run (even though it was just a very tiny bit), and I got to do some sightseeing between Beacon's Perch and Droknar. It was a very enjoyable experience and great entertainment.
It certainly looks challenging and fun to race in this run. But I guess I'll do that one day...ummm....after I've completed the PvE story.

I got ran, and you need 2 people to do the runs, duel running is the best way. I did it solo once but you need people to decoy for you.

IMHO, best way to "race" is by timing the run, as an actual race isnt too fair if one person gets hit with something and others dont

Its goood in a race to use........human Meat shields(i mean no offense to anybody)...seriously now.....if there is a mob of ice imps and u have a lvl 4-5 person....of course u wanna use him/her to distract those imps.
When i get ran i always make myself usefull by........giving my soul for my own good.
